Greg, you need to chill the fuck out dude...

Kyza,

You'll have a blast! Every dz is an awesome dz (well the ones that let you fun jump! ;) ) just put all your energy on jumping as much as you can and landing on the X everything else will come. Don't rush it, slower is faster (im still working on that one...) and listen to your instructors. There is a whole lot more to learn than you think. Enjoy the journey... Its awesome!!!!

Cheers

In regards to be being female and being welcolmed with open arms etc   I withdraw the remark   Mr Speaker as it may/has  cause offense  but  a female entering a bloke dominated sport is more likely to be accepted quicker  and get a bit more attention off the regular jumpers.  Thats all I meant and I have seen it with my own eyes on regular ocassions.
I see you are reading this topic Ralph !!   Love you bloke  am going to try and send you some $$  for the free jumps you gave me.    I suppose I can add  Golden Brown to the list who want to kill me. I actually liked her a lot when I met her  at  Bridgy
I should have known that I was going to get a PM from you with your "justification" about your comment which just added further insult to injury.

Contrary to your belief, I'm not on the list that you speak of, but I would like you to really stop and think carefully about what you say in public. Your actions on here cause people to resent you because you've been given so many opportunities to prove people wrong - even to the point of having your rejumps covered by another CI. How have you repaid him or the community??? You haven't returned to the DZ since and you've been airing your grieviences about other CIs at any given moment and you then turn around and say something based on your limited experience at the DZ.

I did take it personally as I, among with many other females, have tried to make it in this sport based on our own efforts. Yes, its a male dominated sport, but a lot of other sports are... There was absolutely no need to make derogatory comments when the topic on hand was about welcoming potential candidates joining the sport. I'm not going to repeat my previous post, but in response to your PM to me, I am disappointed that you share an old-school opinion of females....

Not bad for a bloke that wanted his account deleted a few weeks ago ....... :tumbleweed:

Nice response GoldenBrown (someone who does give back to the sport in a significant way)

Greg you really do need to get over the martyrdom aspect of your posts because once you put it out there like that people will start to treat you like that. I don't think there are many of your posts that don't have "I'm a dickhead" type comments built into them. Don't bother PM'ing me.

This from drop zone  .com  from woamn advising other woman   I rest my case your honor

1) The other women in this sport can be your greatest allies - if you're willing to treat them that way. I haven't been around that long, but already I've seen quite a few women come into this sport and get very caught up with the attention they get from the men in the sport and they immediately dismiss the women who've been in the sport a while as "just jealous." However those same women (and, to be fair, many of the men) could be very valuable mentors, both in the air and on the ground. It's good to be willing to listen, though, and focus at least as much on being a skydiver as on a party girl.

2) Be prepared to take care of yourself. If you're going to a boogie by yourself, there will likely be plenty of people (usually men) offering to give you rides, places to stay, etc. There are a lot of men who will do that and expect absolutely nothing in return. The problem is that until you've been around a while, you may not know who they are. Until you do, be prepared to take care of yourself - having to rely on someone else to get around, and having to stay with someone else can put you in a situation that gets really awkward really fast. It may seem like it'll be easy to extricate yourself... till you're in the situation.

3) The attention that women get in this sport is a heady thing. But if you're going to go out of your way to court attention, remember that you don't get to maintain full control of the kind of attention you're going to get. It's not all going to be fun, flirtatious attention from the guys you think are cool. It may also be unwanted attention from the guy you think is kind of creepy and unattractive. Are you prepared to tell him, clearly and forcefully that his attention is unwanted? How will you handle it if he says "But you let Joe over there dance with you and fondle you so I thought it was okay?" These are the shades of gray that I'm talking about... it's very easy to send out signals that get very muddled, especially when there's alcohol involved. Stop it before it gets scary ... not after. And be clear - we women have a

Greg.. It's getting a bit tiresome that you write posts to get people's hackles up then you apologise for causing any offense. Stop writing offensive crap in the first place and people won't get offended. Or suck it up when they do!
I reckon this sport is pretty embracing of all sorts of people who might not 'fit in' with other social circles.
Yes, pretty young women get a good share of attention. I think you might call that the law of hormones in a sport that's 84% male. If you have seen INAPPROPRIATE or UNWANTED attention, then act on it. Don't quote other forums. Report it to the CI and the Harrasment Officer. (Me in VIc.)
Despite the DZ banter, skydivers are generally tolerant. They tend to support people who persist at a challenge that is tough for them. They make mates of all ages and backgrounds.
On the other hand, if your only persistence relates to misguided opinions and unfounded complaints, you will struggle.
If this forum makes you feel resentment, disappointment or frustration, then stay away from it. Don't log on. It's pretty empowering to just stay away from places and people that make you feel bad. Best wishes.

Hey folks, the best thing to do for Greg, is to simply ignore his rants & ravings! He is, for want of a better term, a very sad man (in my opinion!), not sure what caused it, but if we keep acknowledging his comments, we are condoning his behaviour!!

Had a look at this, but it's a really cool thread with an infestation in it.
Will look at doing some weeding rather than relocating.

Welcome, Kyza! The sport is filled with interesting and diverse opinions; it is an Extreme sport after all.
