Im not a fan of beer, can it be a carton of Jack Daniels instead?

Hi im Diz, 20 year old from Mackay. Ive recently come across the art of skydiving, and after watching a few YouTube videos, im hooked. I haven't had a chance to dive yet, but will soon. Apparently I paid my good friend Kevin to much money last year, so he is kindly giving it back to me to go and jump out of planes. Hopefully I won't pussy out at the door.[/quote]

It will be the best money you have ever spent.   Maybe do a tandem   then go for AFF    do not be a pussy like me and do 15 tandems before making the decision to do AFF.    Great thing about this is you can go your pace...  y0u can to 15 tandems first..    you can do AFF and get your A licence in around 10 days  if you want.  You decide the pace.    Whatever you  do you will have a ball....     and meet some great people    Welcome  mate!!!!!!!

Ok, the Carton of Pure Blonde Naked is on the bar. Don't tell em out at Toog's or they'll hold me to it when I'm out there in a couple of weeks.:beer_mug: It'll be a carton for finishing my AFF :)

I'm a newbie on the block and damn proud to be one. Have so much to learn and looking forward to adding regular jumping to my already crazy life.

All hints and tips will be greatly appreciated, I need as much help as I can get and any advice as to how shake those prejump nerves would be great. :)

Play hard and Enjoy....

The nerves are part of the journey and "fun", so go with the flow of it all. I still like the jitters and stomach back flip on jump run :)
See you at Toogs at some stage Miss Jane!

Hi All,

I'm thinking of doing a skydiving course this year. I'm based in Sydney. Would you recommend sydneyskydivers.com.au? Looks like they might be the only one around. I'd like to get the course done as soon as possible (once I start). What is the quickest way to learn (weekends only)?

Cheers!
AJ.

Hey AJ , welcome, sydney skydivers is the place to go buddy, They have a fast track aff which they say is 3 days long. You will need to go pretty hard to do it in 3 days so u may want to be prepared if it goes abit over that as the weather can stuff things up. 5 jumps a day may be easy now days for myself but doing 5 AFF jumps in a day would be a challenge as briefing before and after the jump takes time and AFF can be fairly draining also.
They normally do the ground training on a sat and then start jumping first thing on the sunday morning.
Don't worry too much about taking along time to finish AFF at picton as it has the biggest planes in the country and Phil loves taking your cash and getting you in the air as many times in a day as u can manage.
The quickest way to learn is to start now, come down to picton and spend a day there checking the place out and speak to some people and watch some of the experts land and pack (dont watch me). Hope to see u down there.

Thanks Winston, sounds good. thanks for confirming for me. I wasn't sure if they were too commercial and there was somewhere better out there.

Yeah, it looks like ground training on Saturday and 1st jumps on Sunday. From what you've said, in an ideal world i'd get 5 in on the Sunday then the rest the following Saturday? After that do you jump without instructors? How many before you can take someone as a tandem? Am I years off? lol.

I'll be looking to start in a couple of weeks time.

Picton is a big commercial operation and has done 100 tandems a day over summer on a nice day. There is alot of fun jumpers there also doing there own thing.
They do jump during the week but over winter only 1 or 2 loads may go up depending on the number of tandems whereas the summer time from what i hear the plane can run for most of the day depending on amount of tandems and fun jumpers that are there as well as if there is anything else going on. So u may also get a few jumps in on the monday but i have found that during the colder months seeing as it is a long trip for me to get there i concentrate on going there on the weekends when it is guaranteed the planes run until the sun goes down.
I would recommend that u let them know that u want to fast track it and get as many jumps in as u can up front. Some students are happy to do 1 jump a day but if they know u are pumped to jump then Annie can get u on as many loads as she can as long as the instructors are available which normally isn't a problem.
After u have passed (or bribed) your way through the 9 stages then u are free to jump on your own.
As far as being a tandem master the regs state u need to have 500 jumps, but picton has their own regs and Phil wants u to have 1000 jumps before u do the TM course with him. You can go elsewhere if u like and i know a few guys heading to cessnock to do their TM course as they have over 500 jump minimum.
Hope this helps.

Hey. I was thinking of heading down to Picton this weekend to have a look around and chat to the guys there. Are they open Saturday and Sunday? What sort of times? Would there be someone to talk to around there? Cheers.

Looks like it might be Sunday now. I've just called Sydney Skydivers and had a chat. I'll call them in the morning tomorrow to make sure people are jumping (not too windy etc).

Nah, they stopped making them in 1983, but they are so good that they will last forever.

Racers rock!
