I'm not familiar with the Australian dollar but thought it was relatively weak compared to our euros.
On the site it says that a jump from 8000ft costs $300. A video (I don't want a handy cam but one that records from a distance) costs $149.
At least that's what I assume

I hope they don't mean it's $269 for the distant view I want. I don't need a handycam shot of my face until we reach the ground
I just entered $300 + $150 in a currency converter and it's 362 euros.
362 euros is the price of a one way airplane ticket from Belgium to USA.
The average monthly wage in Belgium is $2000 so this one short experience represents almost a week of work.
Is this a normal price? Can I jump much cheaper elsewhere in the country?
I want to push my limits but I find this price pretty ridiculous to be honest. I can buy a new laptop with that money

I dont know what the flight prices are from Belgium, but you can get cheap frlights from the UK to Girona, about £70 return if you book early enough. They are also building a wind tunnel now..... bastards! awesome views of the med from up there as well.

I heard that Australia is an expensive country, especially in the big cities. I've been to Milan with friends and bars charged $10 for bad beer too.
Consequence: Nobody drinks. In Belgium we have the best beers in the world and it costs $2,50 on average.
I have no idea what my trip will be like since I'm coming over alone. I could stick around in Perth but if it's really a money sucking town I'll take a national flight to the east coast. In case life is cheaper there.
There is no plan yet. If I run into interesting people I'll travel with them. If not I'll probably hire a small apartment out of town with people who are interested.
The organisation that joins me said that renting a small apartment with someone would cost me around $300 a month.
I am willing to work, yes. I have a working holiday visum. However the goal is not to work my but off for 4 months and then go back home. I want to work part time to cover most expenses and I calculated to lose another $4000 of my own money on top of that (in 4 months), maximum.

This here http://www.sydneyskydivers.com.au/ shows that a jump in Cairns at 10 000ft costs $240.
In Perth, prices for 10000ft start at $320 and run up to $500 depending on the exact location (http://www.waskydivi...ngs-prices.html)
DVD in Perth = $150. DVD in Cairns = $100
Decision made.
I guess I'll stick around in Perth for 2-3 weeks and then take a flight to the east coast.
Is it just Perth that's expensive or is it the West coast in general? Food, rent, pubs.. It all comes into play.
I'd love to talk about this with someone. Feel free to add me in skype as wout-conjaerts. I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet down under

This http://www.skydiveai....au/prices.html is still cheaper than Skydive Express York. $249 for a jump at 10000ft there, and it's $300 for 8000ft in York. DVD's are also cheaper.
I've seen youtube videos from people jumping above Airlie Beach. It looks the the most beautiful place on earth.
I'll condider it, but I have to find people who are willing to travel with me and pass Airlie Beach.
Our traveling route will probably change a lot and I have to book these things in advance
