Sorry for opening a new thread for each question.
I'm comparing all skydive centers in Australia. Prices, advantages and disadvantages.
For a large amount of centers it's a big hassle to find out whether they offer DVD footage from a distance or that they only record via handycam.
Handycams just film your face and some of the surroundings but they fail to show your speed while falling.
I would appreciate it if someone could sum up some centers across the nation where they definitely offer a more distant video footage.
Airlie Beach seems to be the most breathtaking place on earth but their center doesn't have enough staff for someone else to record my jump from underneath

I have heard of this "filming from a distance" that you are talking about.. but its going to cost you alot more... because another solo diver will have to jump out and record you etc....
Can't you just email these companies and ask them for a breakdown of all the associated costs?

I have excluded some centers for being too expensive and I emailed others, but not all of them reply.
So far it seems that Coffs Harbour at the East coast has the best offer. $215 for a jump at 9000ft. A handcam DVD is $130 and a "dedicated DVD" costs $175.
The description says that dedicated means that there is a 2nd jumper recording. So just $45 on top of the handcam costs is not exaggerated.
I could email another 35 centers but that's a lot of work, and I'm close to my departure to Australia (Perth). I'd appreciate if someone could post a recommendation

Couple of points.
1. The outside camera option, which you are requesting, will not 'show the speed of falling' anymore than a handcam. Remember the cameraman is falling at the same speed as you are. The only time you see any difference in that is when the tandem opens it's canopy and the cameraman continues falling. Then you will see a difference in speeds, but it still won't give the same relative speed feeling that you are looking for. Have a look at some outside camera tandem videos on YouTube to see what I'm talking about.
2. If price is your main motivation, then pick the one that fits your budget. There's really not that much difference in cost from DZ to DZ here in Australia. $20 here, $20 there, maybe. As far as getting a good recommendation for whichever DZ has a price agreeable to you; we are a small family here in Australia, so most skydivers know most other skydivers. You'll be hard pushed to not get a good recommendation for whichever DZ you choose. If a DZ is 'bad' here they don't last long as they'll stand out like dog balls.

Best price I've ever seen:

(and I can only hope that this DZ is paying their contractors their legal entitlements out of that)

Can you send the link that brought you to this page? On their site I find this http://coffsskydiver...ace.com/prices/

It will be a limited time offer like most daily deals and given that Spreets will take a big chunk of the voucher price the DZ may even be running the promotion at a loss or only just breaking even.
Its a good strategy for getting people through the front door for a business but not a great idea to continually do as people start to expect the lower price.
On a side note the guy who started Spreets used to date my Ex's sister and is now filthy rich from it. He can probably do HALO jumps from his G6 if he wants....
